Sandwiches in Los Angeles

Where can you get sandwiches in Los Angeles?
LaSorted's makes focaccia sandwiches at two shops in Los Angeles, in Silver Lake and in Chinatown. The bread is baked in house, and the fillings run from the Father-in-Law, the house Italian, to a mortadella with burrata and a meatball sub shaped into one long patty. Order from Silver Lake or order from Chinatown for pickup or delivery.
Why do people order the sandwiches here?
A pizza shop sells a lot of pizza, and the sandwiches still get written about. Among the people who mention them, the usual line is that one of them is their go-to, and that it came out hot and fresh. The focaccia gets named on its own, and so does the burrata. One person put the meatball sandwich this way: "They do a meatball sub the longggg way. It was just what I was craving!"
What is on a LaSorted's sandwich?
Every one is built on the focaccia baked here. The Father-in-Law is the Italian: mortadella, coppa, finocchio, cotto and provolone with red wine vinaigrette, Dijonnaise, lettuce, tomato and onion. The Mortadella comes with pistachio, burrata and pistachio cream. The Foul Ball is the house meatballs pressed into one long patty, so every bite gets meat. The Hot Boy is the one that comes out hot: toasted capocolla, turkey and salami picante with fresh mozzarella and Calabrian aioli. There is a roast beef with havarti and creamy horseradish, a turkey with provolone, the Monty with turkey and finocchio salami, the Club Frills with bacon and basil aioli, the Picnic with potato chips pressed in, a caprese, and the BE HIVE, built on vegan turkey with vegan Dijonnaise. A sandwich of the month rotates. Chinatown adds one of its own, the Lil Tony. The full menu lists everything on each one.
Which location should you go to for a sandwich?
- LaSorted's Silver Lake. Silver Lake, 2847 Sunset Blvd, is open Monday to Thursday 11am to 9pm, Friday and Saturday 11am to 10pm, Sunday 11am to 9pm. You order at the counter and take it with you; there is no seating inside. Order from Silver Lake.
- LaSorted's Chinatown. Chinatown, 984 N Broadway, is open Monday to Thursday 11am to 10pm, Friday and Saturday 11am to 1am, Sunday 11am to 10pm. This is the sit-down room, under a mile from Dodger Stadium, and it takes reservations. Order from Chinatown.
How do you order sandwiches, and how late?
Order online for pickup or delivery from whichever shop is closer, walk up to the counter in Silver Lake, or come in and sit down in Chinatown. The Silver Lake shop delivers across Silver Lake and into Echo Park, and the Chinatown shop covers Chinatown and the north end of Downtown. Sandwiches are on the menu from opening until close, so a late Friday or Saturday order in Chinatown still gets one.
Questions before you order
Is the Father-in-Law an Italian sub?
Yes, it is the house Italian, on focaccia instead of a roll. People call these hoagies and subs, and they are the same sandwiches.
Do you have a vegan sandwich?
The BE HIVE is built on vegan turkey with vegan Dijonnaise, red wine vinaigrette, lettuce, tomato and onion. Ask the shop about the bread if you need the whole sandwich vegan.
Are the sandwiches served hot or cold?
The Hot Boy is toasted and served hot. The rest are built cold on the focaccia, the way an Italian deli sandwich is.
Is the menu the same at both shops?
Nearly. Both make the same twelve sandwiches; Chinatown adds the Lil Tony, and the sandwich of the month changes at both.
